Setting up plans

Everything on VX Modules → Memberships → Plans. Changes are kept on the page until you press Save plans.

Before you start: a price in FluentCart

A plan is sold by a subscription price on a FluentCart product. If FluentCart has none yet, the Plans tab says so and links to FluentCart's products screen.

A typical setup is one FluentCart product per plan, with a monthly and a yearly price:

FluentCart productPricesPlan
Agent$29 / month, $290 / yearAgent
Agent Pro$79 / month, $790 / yearAgent Pro

Then press Add a plan for each one.

A plan's settings

SettingWhat it does
NameWhat members see on the pricing table and in their account. The plan's key, shown at the bottom of the plan, is made from it and used in tags and shortcodes.
DescriptionOne or two lines for the pricing table.
Sold byThe FluentCart subscription prices that give this plan. Each price sells one plan, so a price another plan already uses is grayed out.
AllowancesWhat the plan lets a member post. See below.
Field limitsFields left out of the plan, or capped. See below.
How posts are countedLive posts, Per billing period, or For good. See Counting.
Deleting a post gives the slot backOnly with For good. Off means a post, once published, uses its slot for good even if it is deleted.
When the plan endsWhat happens to the posts that do not fit on the member's other plans. See below.
Who can hold itOnly members with one of these roles. Empty means anyone.
Role while activeA role added while the member holds the plan and taken away after. A role they had anyway is never removed.
ArchivedHidden from new members and no longer counts. Members who hold it keep their posts, but the plan stops giving them room.

The plan's header shows how many members hold it and which prices sell it. A plan that members hold cannot be deleted — archive it instead.

Allowances

Each row is one or more post types sharing a limit:

ColumnWhat it does
Post typesThe post types in this row. "5 properties or rentals" is one row with both.
How manyThe limit. Tick No limit for unlimited.
When a member submitsAs the form or editor says, Publish straight away, or Hold for review. Overrides the form's own setting for members on this plan, so a paid plan can skip the review queue a free one goes through.

A plan with no allowances allows no posts.

Perks

Under each allowance, the perks its posts get:

PerkWhat it does
FeaturedA Featured badge. Read it with @post_plan(featured), or show and hide with the Post is featured by its plan rule.
VerifiedA Verified mark, the same way.
Priority0 to 100. With Higher priority first on (below), higher-priority posts come first on archives and search.
Expires afterDays from when the post was listed, 0 for never. An expired post moves to an Expired status the author still sees; publishing it again relists it and uses a slot.

Perks are written onto the post as ordinary post meta whenever it takes a slot or moves to another plan, so any query, builder loop, or theme can read them. A post that moves to another plan when one ends gets that plan's perks. Expiry counts from when the post was first listed, so moving between plans does not restart the clock. Expired posts are checked hourly.

Field limits

For each post type the plan allows, every field the post type has, with two controls:

  • Included — off leaves the field out of the form for members on this plan.
  • Up to N files — for galleries and multi-file fields, the most files a member may add. 0 means no limit.

A member on several plans gets the most generous: a field is left out only if every plan they hold leaves it out, and the highest cap wins.

Field limits apply in VX Modules forms (the form simply does not show a field that is left out, and checks the count on submit) and on REST saves, which is how VX's own editor writes fields. Limits on the number of repeater rows or choices are not available yet.

When the plan ends

First, the plan's posts move to room on the member's other plans. This setting is what happens to the ones that do not fit:

ChoiceWhat happens
Pause them (default)Moved to a Paused status: hidden from the site, kept for the author. They come back when the member chooses a plan again.
Send them back for reviewMoved to Pending.
Leave them liveNothing happens.
Move them to the TrashTrashed.

No plan

The card under the plans: what anyone may post without a membership. It has allowances, field limits, and a counting choice like a plan, except Per billing period is Per month here, since there is no billing period.

Empty means every post type a plan covers is for members only. Give it one allowance — "1 property" — to let anyone try the site before paying.

Listing order

Higher priority first. On archive pages, their category pages, and search, posts with a higher priority come first, then newest. Off leaves the order to your theme; the priority is still stored for builders and the Query Loop to use.

Never limited

Roles whose members post as much as they like, and can publish for a member who is over their allowance. Administrators and editors by default.

Saving changes to a plan in use

Editing a plan applies to everyone on it immediately. Lowering a limit never unpublishes anything by itself: if members are now over, a notice lists them with their count ("Dana Okafor (Properties 7/5)"). They keep what they have, but cannot add more until they are under.
