Members, switching, and ending
The Members tab
VX Modules → Memberships → Members lists everyone who holds a plan or has held one. Search by name or email, and filter by plan or by status:
| Status | Means |
|---|---|
| Active | Paid up, or granted. A canceled plan stays Active, marked as ending, until its paid period runs out. |
| Payment trouble | A renewal payment failed. The plan keeps working while FluentCart retries. |
| Ended | The plan ran out. |
Each row shows the member's current plans, how many of their posts are paused, and their usage per post type ("Properties 3/5"). Open a row for the detail:
- every membership they have held, where it came from (a link to the FluentCart subscription, or Granted with its note), and its current period
- usage per post type, broken down by plan
- the posts paused because a plan ended, with Bring back what fits
- Re-sync from FluentCart, Grant a plan, and Edit user
Re-sync from FluentCart at the top of the tab re-reads every member's subscriptions. You rarely need it: every FluentCart event lands in the same sync, and a daily check re-reads them all anyway, so a missed webhook heals by itself.
Granting a plan
Grant a plan gives someone a membership with no payment behind it — for comps, partners, or fixing a missed purchase. It counts exactly like a paid one.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Member | Search by name or email. |
| Plan | Any plan that is not archived. |
| Ends on | Optional. Empty means it never ends. |
| Note | Optional, for the record. Shown on the Members tab. |
A granted plan can be ended with End now on the member's detail.
Switching plans
Needs FluentCart Pro
Without Pro, the Plans tab says so and members are offered Manage billing (FluentCart's portal, where they can cancel) and the pricing page instead of a switch button.
With FluentCart Pro, a member switches plans with prorated billing. FluentCart Pro does the money: a prorated checkout, a new subscription, the old one canceled. VX Modules does the rest:
- Which switches are offered come from FluentCart's upgrade paths. The Switching card on the Plans tab lists, plan by plan, what each can switch to, and Let members switch between every plan creates the missing paths in one click. It keeps any you set yourself; to fine-tune one, open the product's Upgrade Paths tab in FluentCart.
- The old plan ends at once. FluentCart would let it run to the end of its period, but the proration already credited that time, so keeping both would count the member's allowance twice.
- One email. The member gets "Plan switched," not "Plan ended" and "Plan started."
Switching to less room
If the new plan has room for fewer posts than the member has live, they are asked first: every counted post is listed, the newest are ticked up to the new limit, and they choose which stay live. The rest are paused, not deleted. The choice is used once and expires after a day.
If the switch happens somewhere else — an admin changing it in FluentCart — the newest posts are kept.
When a plan ends
A plan ends when it was canceled and its paid period is over, when a failed payment is not recovered, or when a granted plan reaches its end date. Then:
- Its posts look for room elsewhere. Each moves to a free slot on the member's other plans, and on "No plan," taking that plan's perks.
- The rest get the plan's setting. By default they are paused: the Paused status, which the author still sees in their own lists and the site never shows. The other choices are review, leave live, or trash — see When the plan ends.
- Roles granted by the plan are taken away, unless another plan the member holds grants the same role.
The member is told which posts moved and how many were paused, through the "Plan ended" notification.
Coming back
Any new plan for that person — buying one, reactivating one with FluentCart Pro, or a grant — brings their paused posts back to the status they had before, newest first, as far as the new plan has room. Bring back what fits on the Members tab does the same by hand.
Posts from before
When a plan starts limiting a post type that already has posts, those posts belong to no membership and nothing counts them yet. A Posts from before card on the Plans tab asks you to decide, once, per post type. It shows how many posts and authors are involved, and how many authors would be over if counted:
| Choice | What happens |
|---|---|
| Leave them out | They never count. Only new posts do. |
| Count them | Each is counted against its author's plans. Someone already over keeps everything live, but cannot add more until they are under. |
| Count and pause what is over | Counted, and what does not fit is paused, keeping the newest live. Only offered when someone would be over. |
Posts by people in the Never limited roles are left out of all three. Save your plan changes first; the numbers use the saved plans.
