Multi-Locations
Voxel gives a post one location. This lets a post carry several — a chain with multiple branches, a tour with several stops, a service operating from more than one site.
Each extra location becomes its own marker on the archive map, and the post appears in location-based search results when any of its locations falls inside the search area.
Requirements
The post type needs a repeater field containing location sub-fields. Multi-Locations reads that repeater; it doesn't create the field for you.
The expected repeater structure is shown in the settings panel — each row holds a location with its address text and coordinates.
Setting it up
- Add a repeater field with location sub-fields to your post type in Voxel.
- Enable Multi-Locations under Voxel Toolkit → Functions.
- Open Configure and add a Post Type Mapping — select the post type and the repeater field that holds the locations.
- Select Add Mapping. Repeat for each post type that needs it.
- Run Re-index All Multi-Locations so existing posts are indexed.
New mappings don't index existing posts
Adding a mapping only affects posts saved afterwards. Run Re-index All Multi-Locations to bring your existing content in, or older posts will show a single marker.
Tools
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Re-index All Multi-Locations | Rebuilds the location index from current post data |
| Recreate Table | Drops and rebuilds the index table |
Re-index after a bulk import, after changing a mapping, or whenever map markers look out of date.
Recreate Table is the repair option — use it if the index table is missing or damaged, then re-index. It discards the index, not your post data: the locations live in the repeater field and are read back from there.
Troubleshooting
Extra markers don't appear on the map
- Confirm a mapping exists for that post type and points at the right repeater field
- Run Re-index All Multi-Locations
- Confirm repeater rows actually have coordinates — an address with no geocoded position can't be plotted
Posts don't appear in nearby searches
Search matching uses the index, so an unindexed post won't match on its extra locations. Re-index.
Markers are stale after editing a post
Saving a post updates its index entry. If markers still look wrong, re-index — and if that doesn't help, use Recreate Table then re-index.
The mapping dropdown has no post types
Post types come from Voxel. If none are listed, Voxel isn't active or no Voxel post types are defined yet.
