Appearance
Form Action: Voxel Message
Adds a Voxel Message (VT) action to Elementor Pro's Form widget (Actions After Submit). When the form is submitted, a Voxel direct message is sent to any user you choose — with the form's answers inside the message if you want them.
Requires Elementor Pro
The Form widget and its Actions After Submit system are Elementor Pro features. Without Pro, this function stays dormant.
Overview
Messages go through Voxel's real messaging pipeline — the chat thread, unread badges, and message notifications all behave exactly as if the message were typed in the messenger. The recipient, sender, and message content all support Elementor dynamic tags and form field shortcodes.
Key Features
- New action in the Form widget's Actions After Submit list
- Recipient by user ID — fixed, from a dynamic tag, or from a form field
- Message content supports dynamic tags and
[field id="..."]shortcodes - Send as the logged-in submitter, or as a specific user account
- Full Voxel messaging behavior: chats, unread indicators, notifications
- A failed message never blocks the visitor's form submission
Setup Instructions
- Edit your form with Elementor and select the Form widget
- Under Actions After Submit, add Voxel Message (VT)
- Open the new Voxel Message (VT) section:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Recipient user ID | The user to message. A number, a dynamic tag, or a form field shortcode like [field id="user_id"] |
| Message | The message content. Mix text, dynamic tags, and form fields: New inquiry from [field id="name"]: [field id="message"] |
| Send as | Logged-in user (the submitter — skipped for guests) or Specific user ID |
- Save and test with a real submission
Example
A "Contact the owner" form on a listing page:
- Recipient user ID: a dynamic tag resolving to the post author's ID
- Message:
Inquiry about [field id="subject"] — [field id="message"] - Send as: Logged-in user
The listing owner receives a real Voxel message from the visitor, and the conversation continues in the messenger.
Use Cases
Lead-to-Chat
Convert form inquiries into live chat conversations instead of emails.
Concierge Requests
Route service requests to a staff account's inbox.
Application Notifications
Notify a reviewer by direct message when an application form is submitted.
Troubleshooting
The action doesn't appear in the dropdown
- Elementor Pro must be active
- Verify the function is enabled under Voxel Toolkit → Functions
No message is sent
- With Send as: Logged-in user, guest submissions are skipped by design — use a specific sender ID for public forms
- Confirm the recipient ID resolves to a real user (test with a fixed number first)
- Sender and recipient can't be the same user
- Check that the users haven't blocked each other
The message shows raw shortcodes
- Check the field IDs in
[field id="..."]match your form's actual field IDs (Advanced tab of each form field)
