Dialog Auto Trigger

Voxel's Dialog (VX) widget only opens when its button is clicked. This function turns it into a full popup system: open it automatically on page load, exit intent, scroll depth, or inactivity — with frequency capping, audience targeting, and advanced display rules that rival Elementor Pro's popups.

Overview

Enabling this function adds two new sections to the Dialog (VX) widget in Elementor:

  • Auto Trigger (VT) — when the dialog opens and who sees it
  • Auto Trigger — Advanced Rules (VT) — additional display conditions

Triggers never fire inside the Elementor editor, and everything is evaluated in the visitor's browser, so it works correctly on cached pages.

Key Features

  • Four triggers: page load (with delay), exit intent, scroll depth, inactivity
  • Each trigger fires independently — exit intent still works after a page-load show was closed
  • Frequency capping: every page load, once per session, or once every X days
  • Audience: everyone, logged-in, or logged-out — plus user roles and Voxel membership plans
  • Advanced rules: page views, sessions, max shows, referrer URL, traffic source, device, browser, and scheduling
  • Option to hide the dialog's trigger button entirely

Setup Instructions

  1. Edit your page with Elementor and select the Dialog (VX) widget
  2. Open Auto Trigger (VT) and switch on Enable auto trigger
  3. Pick one or more Triggers and configure their settings
  4. Set Show frequency and Show to (audience)
  5. Optionally enable Hide trigger button if the dialog should only open automatically
  6. Save

Exit intentThe cursor leaves the viewport toward the top (desktop)
Scroll depthThe visitor scrolls past X% of the pagePercentage

Multiple triggers can be combined — each fires independently, at most once per page view.

Troubleshooting

The dialog doesn't auto-open

  • Triggers don't fire in the Elementor editor — test on the live page
  • Check frequency: "once per session/days" may have already shown it. Clear the vtDialogAt:* keys in DevTools → Application → Local Storage, or test in a private window
  • Check audience and advanced rules — all enabled rules must pass

It opens on every visit

  • Set Show frequency to once per session or once every X days

Exit intent doesn't fire on mobile

  • Exit intent is cursor-based and desktop-only by nature — combine it with another trigger for mobile
