Installation & Licensing
1. Install the plugin
Upload and activate voxel-ads.zip the same way as any other WordPress plugin — see Getting Started if you need the full steps.
2. Add AdRotate
Voxel Ads serves ads through AdRotate rather than replacing it, so AdRotate has to be installed and active. The free version from WordPress.org is enough; AdRotate Pro works too.
If AdRotate isn't there yet, Voxel Ads tells you and offers to do it for you:
Voxel Ads — the AdRotate plugin must be active before ad syncing, statistics and the settings screen become available. The plugin is installed but currently idle.
[ Install & activate AdRotate ]
That button downloads AdRotate from WordPress.org and activates it in one step. If your host's plugin directory isn't writable — common on managed hosting — the notice will say so, and you can install AdRotate manually from Plugins → Add New.
No settings menu?
The settings screen only appears once both the Voxel theme and AdRotate are active. If you can't find Settings → Voxel Ads, check the admin notice at the top of any dashboard page — it names exactly what's missing.
3. Activate your license
Go to Settings → Voxel Ads → License, paste the license key from your Code Wattz account, and click Activate License.
Your key is in the order confirmation email and in your account area. One key covers every tier — the store tells the plugin which plan you bought when it activates.
| Tier | Sites |
|---|---|
| Single | 1 |
| Multiple | 5 |
| Unlimited | No limit |
Once activated, updates arrive through the normal WordPress updates screen, under Dashboard → Updates and Plugins.
An expired license doesn't switch your ads off
If a license lapses, Voxel Ads keeps serving ads exactly as before — you just stop receiving updates, and an admin notice appears. Live campaigns are never interrupted by a billing problem, because the people affected would be your advertisers rather than you.
To move a license to a different site, open Settings → Voxel Ads → License on the old site and click Deactivate License first — that frees the activation.
4. Confirm it's working
After activating with Voxel and AdRotate both in place:
- Settings → Voxel Ads exists and opens on the Settings tab.
- AdRotate → Manage Adverts exists in the admin menu.
- The Dashboard shows a "Voxel Ads" widget (it will be empty until you have banners).
Next: build the post type your advertisers submit through — The Banner Post Type.
Updating
With an active license, updates appear on the normal WordPress updates screen.
Back up before updating a production site
Voxel Ads writes to AdRotate's advert, schedule and linkmeta tables. Update on staging first where you can.
Uninstalling
Deactivating the plugin removes its scheduled daily task and stops all syncing and injection. It does not delete your AdRotate adverts, your statistics, or your banner posts — those belong to AdRotate and Voxel and stay where they are.
